Timbertrail is an innovation project for sustainable development. The application is designed to propose base roads that facilitates pre-planning, field work, felling work and reducing ground damage.
The purpose of the project is to develop a field-adapted application that identifies optimal driving routes for forest machines in harvesting. Information on soil moisture, inclination, forest density, weather conditions and more is used together with an optimization model to calculate where the machines should run in order to minimize the risk of driving damage and at the same time optimize the harvesting work. The application will reduce damage to land and ancient remains, reduce CO2 emissions and reduce forestry costs. The project is partly financed by Vinnova within the framework of the Innovation Project for a business.
